I have been working on memory boxes and photo albums for each of my children over these beginning weeks of 2012. Pouring over pictures of them as babies and the many special moments along the way. First birthdays, first hair cuts, first holidays, first days of school. Many times as I was growing up I thought I knew and understood love. My heart didn’t realize what love was until I had my children. Each one holds a place in my heart and has given new meaning to love. There is nothing they could ever say or do that would make me stop loving them. There are days my heart feels as if it will burst and words cannot truly express my love for them.
I think that is a glimpse of what my heavenly Father feels towards me. It is a gift He has given me to help me understand His heart. As I love my children through all the journeys in life I am given a glimpse into the heart of my Father.
It came to this world as a baby. A baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and laying in a manger. What a humble beginning for the definition of real love.
I am so thankful that real love came to this world. Not as a box of chocolates, a dozen roses or a sparkling diamond ring.
I am so thankful that real love came to this world as a precious little baby with a humble beginning.
I am so thankful that real love walked through this world and faced the same things I do.
I am so thankful that real love experienced hate and resentments and was wrongly accused yet choose to never give in or never give up.
I am so thankful that real love took things never deserve and sacrificed Himself so that I might live.
Today as I go about preparing valentines for my family and sharing special moments with them I look to truth to show me real love. I write upon my heart the promises of real love!
