I decided to create a page for some of my favorite things. Books! Recipes! Ideas! Challenges! It will be a work in progress, just like me!
Lose It for Life- Day by Day- Devotions for Every Day of the Year
by Stephen Arterburn, M.ED., Janelle Puff and Misty Conaway.
It is published by Integrity Publishers. ISBN# 1-59145-249-X.
I from time to time have referred to it in my blog. It really is just what I need each day!
I bought this book in 2011 and dusted it for about 4 months. I added it to my list of books to read during my 2012 Project 365. I started it last week and boy is it taking me on a journey. It is an excellent book to really get to the heart of our addictions, not just with food.
Author Lysa Terkeurst has written several books!
She is an amazing writer with an incredible testimony of her own.
One of my favorite websites is http://www.skinnytaste.com/.
Check it out for deliciously easy SKINNY recipes and while you are
at it, check out her blog too!
by Stephen Arterburn ( I really like his work)
If you want a powerful read that will change your life than this book is for you! I have highlighted, bookmarked, flagged and every time I pick it up I find some new truths.
I borrowed the following from the Amazon sites book description:
“From chronic physical pain to deep emotional hurts, we are all, at some level, in need of healing. And healing, writes author Stephen Arterburn, is a choice, although not our choice-it is God’s choice. While that may lead us to understand that healing is out of our hands, there are several things we do or believe that can stand in the way of God’s healing in our lives.
Describing ten choices we can make, and the corresponding ten lies that we must reject, Arterburn outlines the plan for opening our lives to God’s divine touch. For example, to be receptive to God’s healing, we must make the choice to feel; but we often buy into the lie that we need something to help numb the pain. Likewise, we can choose to embrace reality; but we often falsely believe that if we act as if nothing is wrong, the problem will go away.
Healing on all levels-spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical-is a miraculous gift from God; but it is a function of our own decisions and beliefs as well. When we make the right choices, and reject the lies, we can find the way to wholeness again”
If you don’t buy another book ever again, buy this one!
This book changed my heart and my life. It was given to me at a time when I felt like my life was worthless. For whatever reason I felt prompted to read it as lead. When God prompted my heart I picked up this little book. It took me a year and a half to read it but it was a GOD timed thing for on each page I found a love letter from my King that I needed at just the right time. The pages of my book are bookmarked, dated, highlighted and noted so I can reflect on His love for me at the hardest places in my life.
Here is a little bit about the author:
“Sheri Rose is a woman who can relate to almost any woman’s battle. This former Mrs. United States grew up in a dysfunctional home and was severely overweight as a teen. As a young woman, she battled depression and an eating disorder. She understands the pain that comes from a broken home and she knows what it means to fight for freedom from your past.
In spite of an English teacher telling her she was “born to lose” and a learning disorder—Dyslexia—Sheri Rose has (in God’s strength) become a Best Selling Author with more than One Million books sold, and her latest book won the 2010 Retailer’s Choice Non-Fiction Book of the Year.
Sheri Rose has been speaking at churches and women’s retreats for 20 years. She has a very refreshing way of bringing the Word of God to life. She knows how to renew the Eternal Hope in our hearts. Her speaking style is humorous, heartwarming and inspires every one to make their life count for eternity. She loves speaking at women’s retreats of any size and currently is on the Women of Joy Tour with: Kay Arthur, Karen Kingsbury, Lysa TerKeurst, Shaunti Feldhahn, Thelma Wells, and artists Chris Tomlin, Michael W. Smith, Casting Crowns and Brandon Heath. “
